"City of Slate"

In the heart of the Riviera di Levante, Lavagna is the symbol of seaside tourism, thanks to its splendid sandy beach that stretches for kilometres and is the longest in this part of Liguria, and to the coveted Blue Flag for its clean waters. Lavagna is also home to the largest marina in Tigullio, a landing point for yachtsmen sailing along the coast or departing for Portofino or the Cinque Terre. The historic centre is typical of Liguria, with its narrow streets, medieval arcades and shops. It owes its name to the slate production that was very active until the last century, when it was the Italian commercial centre for this material.
