Chiavari is the capital of Tigullio, with its medieval historic centre and nineteenth-century arcades offering panoramic views of incomparable and authentic beauty, coloured by artisan workshops, restaurants, trattorias and shops. Traditions linked to fishing and craftsmanship remain intact, with the typical production of chairs called ‘chiavarine’ and beautiful ‘macramé’ lace. It boasts prestigious buildings in typical Genoese style and has developed its tourist vocation thanks to the recent large marina and clean sea, which has been awarded the Blue Flag since 1987.
