"Lake d'Iseo"

Lake Iseo, divided between the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo, is only sixth in size among Italian lakes, but it holds the unique record of hosting the largest lake island in Europe: Monte Isola, a true jewel surrounded by greenery and dotted with tiny villages and rare patrician villas. Nestled between mountains and hills, Lake Iseo is unlike any other lake and owes its originality to the variety of its landscape and its natural beauty. To the north, Lake Iseo is framed by the snow-capped mountains of the Adamello glacier, from which the waters that feed it originate, while to the south, the landscape becomes gentler and more hilly. Impressive evidence of various historical periods still exists today, including castles and towers, churches and monasteries, villas and stately palaces, and ancient stone villages. Terraces, olive groves and vineyards bear witness to centuries of human labour. Lake Iseo offers a vast and varied culinary tradition and there are many typical dishes to savour. There are countless outdoor sports to enjoy, both in winter and summer; in fact, the winds that blow across the lake allow for various water sports, while winter sports can be enjoyed in numerous surrounding locations.
