Lake Como is famous worldwide for its charm, breathtaking views and magnificent mountain peaks that are harmoniously reflected in its crystal clear waters. It is one of the largest lakes on the old continent with an area of 145 km² and is the deepest glacial lake in Europe with a depth of 410 m at its narrowest point opposite Torriggia. The lake has a bizarre inverted ‘Y’ shape with three ends: Colico to the north, Lecco to the south-east and Como to the south-west. The Alps protect the entire area from cold winds, giving residents and numerous visitors a pleasant and favourable climate all year round.
